Art vs. Art Approaches
Ready? Set? Paint! The annual artistic battle to the death is right around the corner, so get yer brushes and noisemakers ready!
PAINT DAY
Artists have just four hours to paint with the materials provided. You can't bring easels, but you can bring chairs. The public is invited to watch our artists paint free of charge. (rules)
MAIN EVENT
The Grand Prize has swollen to a whopping $4,000, winner-take-all. Mike Wiltrout returns to emcee. After we crown the winner, the legendary Zero Boys storm the stage.
ProDev Wrapup
Thanks to more than 75 artists who attended this year’s very successful Professional Development Series, our sixth partnership with the Arts Council of Indianapolis. Special thanks to Shannon Linker of the Arts Council for her crucial help in organizing and hosting this year’s free workshops at their new digs.
We appreciate everyone for filling out evaluation sheets after each session and for giving us great ideas for next year’s series. If you have an idea for a workshop topic, let us know.
If you missed a workshop, you can find a repository of resources from past sessions on the Arts Council website.
Remembering Our Friend, Theo
In June, we lost Matt Theobald. A friend to all, he eagerly volunteered for our events—most recently at Installation Nation—and was also a contributor to Pecha Kucha Indy and Earth House, among others.
"Theo" added such vitality to any scene or event with his distinctive laugh, his affability, his intelligence, and his enthusiasm.
While we work on a lasting tribute, please do us a favor and share his passion at art events, openings and First Fridays: approach someone you've never met and share your passion for art with them!
Support the Arts. Support Primary Colours.
We've set a goal to raise just $500 by the Main Event through our safe and secure Cause Page.
Just what can we do with 500 bucks? Hey, we're an arts nonprofit. We can do a lot with money like that!
Whether you're supporting us through a ticket to Art vs. Art, purchase of a painting, or donating directly, feel good that you're helping make a statement that the arts are crucial to helping make Indianapolis a world-class city that nurtures great art and artists.
Thank you for supporting Primary Colours!

This Just In...
Scion has selected Primary Colours to participate in its Scion x-CHANGE Fall Tour. It's all part of an effort to raise money for arts nonprofits across the country.
We're part of a 30-city tour that matches us with a local artist and a local retail outlet. Mark your calendars for October 9-10. More details to come...
