Happy New Year!

Before we completely say good bye to 2011 we have a few mentions to brag about. We made Nuvo’s Year in Review for the Visual Arts and Nuvo honored us with a great review for our Annual Holiday Show Toys.

Here’s to 2012, we promise to make it even more memorable than 2011.

We’ve made slow progress of late, but some other organizations have surged lately. Here’s where we stand as of November 16 with just three days to go:

You may be one of 289 people who have already joined our previous “Support Primary Colours” Facebook Cause page. Currently, we’ll hit 3rd if we double the people who join. Scion could give us as much as $5,000!

You do not have to donate. YOU SIMPLY NEED TO JOIN OUR CAUSE AT http://www.causes.com/causes/523960.

If you would like to donate before Nov. 19, Scion will match your gift up to $1,000. We’ve raised $775 in so far, and Scion will match another $225.

Right now, we could use your help.

We’re part of a challenge among about 30 arts nonprofits nationwide. The top three groups with the most followers by November 19 (at 5pm PST) will share the remainder of the $100,000 Scion has pledged. There’s only one step:

We’re excited that Scion chose to support Primary Colours as part of its 30-city nationwide tour.

Stop by Saturday and Sunday, October 9-10, from noon to 8pm (both days). We’ll be at Jimmy John’s on 845 Broad Ripple Ave.

ABOUT Scion x-CHANGE: The Scion x-CHANGE Program connects people, online and on-the-streets, to featured nonprofits in over 30 cities with the goal of raising financial support for arts-based nonprofit programs, up to $60,000 this year. It’s this support, in turn, that provides the necessary workspaces, materials, educational opportunities and support platforms to the artists who drive the cultural identity of a city.

In an effort to raise money for the Fellowship, local churches, and local charitable organizations–including Primary Colours–current Orr Fellows will be picking up Christmas trees from houses and transporting them to nearby Indy Parks locations where they will be recycled into mulch.

Just think: You don’t have to mess with needles and sap in your car, and you can help support two great local organizations!

Tree Luggers will be servicing neighborhoods on the near north side of Indianapolis, including Meridian-Kessler, Butler-Tarkington, Broad Ripple, Carmel, and Fishers.

So how do I sign-up?!

1. If paying via credit card, check, or cash please go to www.treeluggers.org to complete the necessary materials.
2. If paying by check or cash, please call Katie Veatch at (317) 396-9107 to leave a detailed message with your name, address, phone number, email address, and the date you want your tree picked up.  On the pick-up day, leave your donation in a zip-lock bag under the doormat or in your mailbox and we will leave a receipt in the same location.

When registering for pick-up, please mention that you learned of the fundraiser through Primary Colours. By doing so, you’ll ensure that half of your donation will be shared with Primary Colours.  Although not required, the recommended donation for pick-up is $20.  All donations to Primary Colours and Tree Luggers are 100% tax deductible.  On your pick-up day, please leave your undecorated tree at the curb before noon.

About the Orr Fellowship

The Orr Fellowship is a two-year professional program designed to combat “brain drain” in Indiana by placing the state’s top college graduates with high growth, entrepreneurial companies in central Indiana.  Tree Luggers raised $4,000 last year, but with great support from the Indianapolis community, they believe they can double that amount this year for the Orr Fellowship and other charitable organizations in the community.
