Installation Nation Details
Primary Colours presents Installation Nation, a unique installation art event, on June 5-6, 2009 at 500 N. College Ave. Thirteen artists from around the Midwest were selected to create ten installation pieces within five large, metal shipping containers in a space measuring 8 ft. wide, 8 ft. high, and 20 ft. wide.
Admission is $5. Kids under 12 get in free. Hours are 6-11 p.m. on both nights. Street parking is available throughout the area surrounding the event.
At the event, attendees can wander in and out of the containers that house the installation art. Audio Reconnaissance will supply the music, and food and beverages will be sold at the event.
Installation Nation is the tenth event that the Indianapolis-based arts nonprofit has hosted in a donated, vacant space, but it is the first exhibition staged outside on a vacant lot. Lockerbie Park donated the lot that sits on the northwest corner of N. College Ave and E. Michigan St., and the nearby condos will host an open house from 5-7 p.m. during both nights of the event. Because this is an outdoor event, patrons with limited mobility are warned that the gravel lot may pose difficulty.
Where is Installation Nation?
Installation Nation marks the tenth event that Primary Colours has hosted in a donated, vacant space. However, this is the first event that takes place outside. The good folks at Lockerbie Park have donated the lot.
Installation Nation will take place on the lot located on the northwest corner of N. College Ave. & E. Michigan St. (map) It’s across from the Lockerbie Pub with easy access to Mass Ave.
We’ll have tents set up around the shipping containers. Because this is an outdoor event, the gravel lot may pose difficulty for some of our patrons with limited mobility.
Lockerbie Park condos will host an open house from 5-7 p.m. during the event.
Call for Artists – Installation Nation
We’re pleased to present our new event, Installation Nation. We’re inviting all contemporary artists with experience in creating installation art to submit proposals for consideration. We’ll select ten projects and give them each $500 to create their vision within the confines of a metal storage container. Applications are available now. You have until Tuesday, April 28, to submit them to us.
