Call for Artists – Installation Nation

installationnation_000b1We’re pleased to present our new event, Installation Nation. We’re inviting all contemporary artists with experience in creating installation art to submit proposals for consideration. We’ll select ten projects and give them each $500 to create their vision within the confines of a metal storage container. Applications are available now. You have until Tuesday, April 28, to submit them to us.

    What is meant by metal storage container? dumpster? trash can? safe?

    Thanks for asking. We’ll be renting 40ft. metal shipping containers. They have doors on each side, so we’ll add a wall in the middle of each container, and two pieces will be housed in each container. Selected artists will each have a space of 8ft. high x 8ft. tall x 20 ft. deep to construct their piece.

    Here’s a picture of the kind of container we’ll be using. It might not be the actual type we end up using, but it’s enough to give you an idea.

    do you know if there will be wood on the floor inside this container? who will be supplying the containers so that I might do a little inspecting?

    Right now, we’re talking to Mobile Mini about supplying the containers for the show. We think, yes, there will be wood flooring in the containers.
